I had a 2nd phone interview on Friday with the hiring manager at Crispin Porter + Bogusky. We chatted for about 45 minutes and it went really well – so well that at the end of the chat he told me he wants to bring me in for an all-day interview!
So this coming Wednesday I’ll be heading to Boulder and spending the day at their office. I’ll be meeting with a variety of people, presumably folks I would work with if I got the job. This will be a combo of a more formal interview (the last 2 were more just chats than anything), and a way to get to know me, and for me to get to know the team. I think a big part will be to see if I have synergy with the folks I’d be working with.
In either case this feels promising, but makes me nervous at the same time. I’m just reminded of how excellently all 3 interviews with Sun Microsystems went and in the end how the whole thing fell through (they claimed they found someone who was a better fit for their team, but a week later they had massive layoffs and restructuring within the organization that was interviewing me so I have to wonder …).
In either case – this would be an awesome job if I got it (awesome enough that I wouldn’t mind driving to Boulder every day – at least initially … maybe they’ll let me work from home part of the week sometime in the future).
