The Never Ending Interview Merry-Go-Round …

How all the interviewing makes me feel ...

Today I was supposed to have my 2nd Interview with a company that had a position open for a part-time Web Analytics consultant – which is perfect for the kind of work I want to be doing. However the interviewer flaked on me and they had to reschedule. I keep doing this to myself – get myself all psyched up over a possibility and then my interviews get rescheduled, canceled, or otherwise delayed. A few weeks ago I had one interviewer seem to flake out on me, when it turns out they “mixed up” the interviewees (we both had similar names – Gabriele and Gabrielle). They had only intended to interview Gabrielle (which was not me). In many cases I’ve gone through 2-3 and even 4 interviews with some companies, all of them to end up absolutely no where so far.

Many of them plan to “keep me in mind” if any short term projects come up that they might want me to help them with, but at this point I’m not sure I should keep my hopes up.

On the positive side I do have a small partnership/client relationship building with a small local start-up. They have me on retainer for 5 hours/month right now, with the possibility of more depending on client projects so that’s definitely a start. And who knows – the rescheduled interview I was meant to have today may still lead somewhere.

Here’s hoping I get off this Merry-Go-Round soon!!
