Potatoes Au Gratin


  • 2lbs of Russet Potatoes
  • 4 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 1.5 cups half & half
  • 1 tsp onion salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper


Peel and thinly slice the potatoes (best done using the slicing side of a cheese grater). Grate the cheddar cheese until you have about 4 cups. Layer the potatoes and cheese in a casserole dish. Before putting the top layer of cheese, whisk the half & half with the onion salt and black pepper and pour over the the potatoes and cheese in the casserole dish. Top with the remainder of the grated cheddar.

Bake at 350F for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender (test with a sharp knife). Leave the lid off during the last 15 – 20 min to get a golden brown crust on top (optional)
